Machine guns fired at Camp Williams caused wildfires to start in Utah. The fires caused lots of damage; three houses burnt down with outhouses, a forth house was damaged and vehicles were torched. the government is now paying those people. Apparently no one checked to see that the National Weather service put up a "red flag" for high-winds, before they went through with their exercise.

Typhoon in China
Typhoon Fanapi has killed 20 people so far in China, it is causing lots of chaos too. In southern China it caused flooding and landslides, killing 18 people and leaving 44 missing. The other two killed were in Taiwan, which Fanapi hit Sunday. Already this disaster is casting 867 million yuan (12 million dollars) to China.

Bullying is Killing Teens
15 year old Phoebe Prince hung herself after being bullied by a group of six girls. Three of those girls have been to Juvenile Court. They were charged with violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury and stalking, they pleaded not guilty. The girls charged were Ashley Longe, Sharon Chanon Velazquez and Flannery Mullins. Austin Renaud and another teen, Sean Mulveyhill, face statutory rape charges for possibly having sexual contact with Phoebe. They have pleaded not guilty. Austin was Flannery's on-again-off-again boyfriend, which was one reason the three girls were mad at Phoebe.
Phoebe's mother had talked to authorities at school about her daughter being bullied and some may say that the adults at school didn't do their part. That maybe if they had steeped in things might have been different for Phoebe.
I know this isn't the most recent news but it seems very important especially after hearing from the bully guy who came to school and told us what to do to stop bullying.
-Critical Thinking: Is Phoebe's death partly the the schools fault or just the girls bullying her?

Megabus
Last Saturday morning a double-decker Megabus going form Philadelphia to Toronto killed four people and injured at least two Canadians. The driver went off the normal route for an unknown reason, but what ended up happened was the bus was to tall to fit under the railway bridge, which crashed and peeled the top deck of the bus. This is what hurt and killed people. Unfortunately this is not a first Megabus accident.
-Critical Thinking: Will Megabus business be greatly affected by the most recent accident?
